MIDDLE SCHOOL

6th - 8th Grades

Our Cumberland Campus on Western Avenue is the home of our Middle School.

​

Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday we meet on campus for academic instruction. Tuesday and Friday are Satellite Days - our home study days. Middle School students have the option of taking only the 4 core academic classes which include Math, Science, English, and History. In addition, we also offer elective classes that are available in the afternoon.

Class starts promptly at 8:30am, and students can be dropped off as early as 8:00am. Middle school has three dismissal times.

1:10 (4 Core Classes)

2:15 (4 Core Classes + 5th Period Elective)

3:20 (4 Core Classes + 5th & 6th Period Electives) 

Electives and Extracurricular Programs

River's Edge Middle School students can take up to two afternoon elective classes each day. Electives include classes such as Art, Drama, Home Economics, Lego/Robotics Club, Choir, Entrepreneurship, Foreign Language (8th grade only), PE, Microsoft Office, etc.

Band is offered weekly after school through American Independent Music Association (AIMA). Students learn to work together as a band, while working to improve their skills on their choice instrument. The students look forward to their RECA band concerts where they have an opportunity to showcase their talents and hard work.

Sports

Ultimate Frisbee! For 8-12th grades (age 13 and up), we have our own Ultimate Frisbee team. Our team was formed in 2014 and started playing in Division 1 in 2018.  The varsity team has earned the following titles:

  • 1st place Division 2 tournament 2017

  • 1st place Division 2 Deep Freeze tournament 2017

  • 1st place in Kentucky Open Tournament in fall of 2018

  • 3rd place in the State of TN 2018

  • 1st place in Kentucky Open Tournament in fall of 2018 and 2019

  • 1st place Knoxville Youth Ultimate fall season tournament 2018 and 2019

  • 2nd place in the River Campus Classic spring of 2019

  • TN State Champions: 1st place in 2021 and 2022

  • Nationally ranked, 18th in the country - April 2022; 21st in the country - May 2022

We also have a TSSAA-approved cooperative with Concord Christian School, which allows our students to play any middle school or high school sport on a CCS team.

Accreditation

River's Edge Christian Academy is dually accredited through both Christian Schools International and Cognia and is recognized by the State of Tennessee as an approved non-public school (Category III School). We are also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and approved as a Home School Satellite Program, which is recognized by the State of Tennessee as an approved non-public school (Category IV-Church – Related School).
