SPIRITUAL ENGAGMENT
At River’s Edge Christian Academy, students grow in faith through chapel, daily devotions, and small groups. Our Christ-centered curriculum and biblical worldview help students build character, think critically, and learn to serve others—preparing them to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
RECA Believes in Nurturing Students Spiritual Growth
We see spiritual growth as a journey we take together with families. We partner closely with parents to guide students in developing a strong faith, helping them apply biblical principles in everyday life. Through chapel, daily devotions, small groups, and a Christ-centered curriculum, students grow in character, wisdom, and a love for serving others.

We know that nurturing faith is most effective when school and home work hand in hand. By partnering with parents, we create a consistent, supportive environment where students can explore their faith, ask questions, and develop a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.

The What
At River’s Edge Christian Academy, spiritual engagement is the intentional development of a student’s heart, mind, and character through a Christ-centered educational experience. It means that faith is not an add-on or a weekly event—it is integrated into everything we do. We see spiritual growth as a journey we take together with families. We partner closely with parents to guide students in developing a strong faith, helping them apply biblical principles in everyday life.

The Why
Spiritual engagement matters at RECA because education is never just about academics—it’s about shaping the whole person. We believe students are most deeply formed by what they love and believe, and grounding them in Christ early helps them see themselves, their studies, and their world through God’s truth. Faith and learning go hand in hand; when students understand God as Creator, Redeemer, and King, every subject—from math and science to history and literature—comes alive with purpose. We partner closely with parents to reinforce biblical values at home, nurturing character, integrity, and discernment that will guide students throughout life. At RECA, discipleship is the mission: we are preparing students not only for academic success, but for God's use in His world and His work.

The How
We weave spiritual formation intentionally into every part of a student’s experience. We don’t treat faith as a separate category—because we believe, that “God is the King of every subject.” Here’s how that conviction shapes daily life on our campuses:

• Scripture at the Center
Students regularly read and engage with God’s Word, not only learning biblical truth, but also how to apply it in real life.
• Worship as a Community
We gather students for meaningful times of worship during chapel, helping them develop a genuine love for praising God together.
• Christ-Centered Classrooms
Biblical principles are integrated naturally into lessons, discussions, and academic subjects. Whether in math, history, science, or language arts, students learn to view the world through a biblical lens.
• Bible Courses for Every Grade
Our Bible curriculum grows with our students, offering age-appropriate studies that deepen understanding, encourage spiritual maturity, and equip them to live out their faith.
• Small Groups That Encourage Growth
Intentional small groups provide space for students to build relationships, ask questions, and grow in accountability and fellowship.
• Annual Spiritual Retreats
Each year, students participate in retreats built around our schoolwide spiritual theme. These moments away foster reflection, community, and deeper connection with the Lord.
• Partnering in Discipleship
Above all, we see ourselves as partners with the Lord—and with parents—in the discipleship of each student. Every practice, from the classroom to retreats, is designed to help students grow in wisdom, character, and a lifelong love for Christ.
Curriculum
Every curriculum choice is made thoughtfully, diligently, and prayerfully. Our goal is to select the resources that will have the greatest academic and spiritual impact on our students. We carefully consider each subject and grade level, seeking a balance of academic rigor, adaptability to our hybrid schedule, and alignment with our Christ-centered mission.

Our curriculum committee prays over every decision, evaluating how each program will support students’ intellectual growth while nurturing their spiritual development. We draw from a variety of trusted publishers to provide the best instruction in each subject. Curriculum for each grade can be found here: K-8 Curriculum and High School Curriculum.
